SYROM 2005

                                       First Announcement and Call for Papers

   The 9-th IFToMM International Symposium on Theory of Machine and Mechanisms will take place in Bucharest–Romania, September 1-4, 2005, at the University POLITEHNICA of Bucharest.

      The promoters of SYROM 2005 are the International Federation for the Theory of Machines and Mechanisms – IFToMM, the IFToMM Technical Committee “Linkages and Cams” and the Romanian Association for the Theory of Machines and Mechanisms – ARoTMM in co-operation with the University POLITEHNICA of Bucharest, Chair of the Theory of Mechanisms and Robots and the Ministry of Transport of Romania.

      The objectives of SYROM 2005 are to provide a forum for the researchers working in the field of mechanisms and to stimulate new directions concerning theories, methods, algorithms, modeling, simulation and applications of mechanisms in various technical areas as mechatronics, robotics, micromechanisms, human-machine systems and transportation machinery.

       In order to encourage extensive interchanges between all the participants, the scientific program will include invited lecturers and scientific sessions on the topics of SYROM 2005.

      Contributions are welcome in the mentioned above areas and will be organized in the sections:

Planar mechanisms and their particular applications;

Three-dimensional mechanisms and their technical applications;

Complex mechanisms (linkages, cams and gears) and their applications;

Mechanisms used in transport technical systems (railway rolling stock, road vehicles).

The proceedings of SYROM 2005, including the plenary lectures and the reviewed and accepted papers, will be available during the meeting.

             Lectures and Forums

 - General lectures by internationally renowned specialists on topics of mechanisms, mechatronics and robotics will be presented.

 - Informal open forums on topics of importance to mechanism theory and computer aided design methods to maximize exchange of ideas between theoreticians and designers.

 - The meeting of the IFToMM Technical Committee “Linkages and Cams” will take place during the symposium.

             Call for Papers

   The Program Committee cordially invites persons interested in presenting a paper to send extended abstract (not less than 200 words) to the Organizing Secretariat. The deadline for the receipt is January 31, 2005.
